Wizard Clipp

“music for people”

Wizard Clipp is a collection of banjo and guitar tunes I started writing in 2017 when it looked like my life was about to unravel and so to make sure it did I started drinking quite furiously and during this time I came down with a respiratory infection that turned into Bell’s palsy and half my face was paralyzed and I had vertigo and couldn’t drive a car or go to work and it went on for months and my only real relief during this time was playing music. I was set to finally go and record these tunes in 2020 but the pandemic forced me to cancel. Then in 2021 with restrictions easing I decided it was now or never and booked the time. One day shortly after that I ran into my friend Rebecca Wudarski and told her about the project. Rebecca and I have known each other for years and played in bands together previously and she asked me if I wanted another guitar on the record to which I said “hell yes” because Rebecca is an insanely good musician, she can play any damn thing with strings on it and more. A couple months later we traveled down to Joe Dejarnette’s studio in Floyd, VA and made the record and we are very proud of it even if we don’t exactly know what genre to file it under certainly it’s “inspired-by-traditional-Appalachian-music” but it swerves and serves up some curveballs for sure. I dunno maybe you’ll be able to tell us what it is and then we’ll all hold hands and dance around in the moonlight because wow we figured it out.
